Why test in the 5? I would imagine that the output of the turbo 3.0l will be very close to the 4.8l V8.

Quite possibly not the case. Remember, this engine is coming from the guys who were pretty much against turbos in the first place. Maybe the resulting increase in output will be good, but not like the crazy increases that other manufacturers get.

Maybe its just easier to put the motor in the 5 until all the packaging issues are worked out? Also the drivetrain that supports the V8 must be beefier and can take the extra torque.
