My leatherette is wearing already on my sport seats! Right at the edge of the back rest where the point is. I know that my butt rubs this area when I get in but assumed that BMW would know that MOST people would be brushing against this area alll the time and would have chosen material suitable to withsatnd this. Am I crazy?

I have it covered now but wonder if I am going to see the reat of my sport leatherette wear just as poorly!

You need move your seat back to get in and out of the car, if not you will wear out the upholstery on the bolsters. That issue was discussed extensively in this thread.

shouldnt that be covered by the warranty, i had an 01 accord coupe once, with less that 36k mile, and i complained that the drivers leather seats were unraveling at the stitch area.

honda replaced the leather covering the seats.

I would take the matter to the dealer asap, and complain w/o blinking an eye.

The warranty cover manufacturing defects which you could probably claim if the stitch is unraveling. Wearing out the the upholstery is really an wear and tear issue. Many of us who have 330i w/ZHP have developed a serious issue with piling of the alcantara steering wheel and have been mostly unsuccessful in getting the steering wheel replaced under warranty. Although BMW has apparently recognized the problem by providing a leather covered steering wheel in the current 330Ci w/ZHP.

Why wouldn't this be covered just like any other "worn out" item by the 50K warranty? If wiper blades wear out and are covered then why wouldn't the seat material?? I mean brakes wear out and are covered.......
