 Disconnect For Seatbelt Chime

I have finally figured out how to make the pleasant *!*!* chime stop when you don’t put on your seatbelt. Not that I don’t where my seat belt, but I live in a gated community and visit my neighbors often. Anyway, how to disconnect: First prop your seat all the way back , tilted back and raised as high as possible. Next, kneel on the ground so your body is on the floor of the car so you can reach the under part of the seat. Next, locate a yellow wire harness located under the seat. It will be located on the right hand side on a mounting bracket. Grasp the bracket firmly and wiggle it toward the rear of the seat, do not pull up, only straight back. Once removed cut the back tie wrap holding the wires together. Next, hold the wire harness in your left hand and, with a pinching motion pull out the black tab with your left hand. The black tab should slide with little effort. this will disengage the connector to the wire harness. Next, with you nails find the two tiny plastic tabs holding the wiring blocks into the wire harness and pry them open just enough to slide out the first block. Follow with the second block. On the second block you will see a red and a black cable. With a safety pin push down the tab that holds the wire in the harness and slide out the two cables. The only problem I have found is that the check airbag light comes on. I will post pics later.

Any distance too far to walk deserves a seat belt.

Besides, from a safety standpoint, if you fool the car into thinking no one is seated, the airbags might not deploy during an accident.

I know how to disconnect the brake lines if you are interested!

Ummmm you may want to reconsider if the check airbag light is on, it may disconnect the airbag sensor that regulates the inflation of the bag if the seat belt is on/off or may disconnect the actual airbag seat sensor which tell the car there is an occupant and the air bag should go off.... ie park on a hill and forget to put ebrake on and car rolls=no air bag, person in seat = airbag (this is for real, My friend did this to his A4 and crashed his car into a stone wall and cause 9k in damage but no airbags went off!) There is also a weight sensor in the multistage bags for lighter passengers....
Just a heads up, I would hate for you to be in an accident and not have the bag blow! Why don't you just go to a junk yeard and buy the clip and use it when you go down the road and unclip it and put it in the center console when you want tuse your belt, seems like a simple fix! Best of luck

I have just learned from my drivers ed class in Va., that in most states, cops can stop and ticket you solely for not having seatbelts on, unlike before that there has to be a primary reason to be stopped, ie speeding.

one thing about seltbelts, it can easily become a bad habit; not using them.

Thank you for your input. I am simply annoyed by the noise the car makes when I dont do what the car wants me to do. Would you want that annoying noise blaring if you were simply moving your car to a different location on your driveway? I do agree that seatbelts should be worn at all times, but have a little common sense and listen to the individual application for the purpose of disconnect. On a seperate note, you dam well better be wearing your belt at 153 on I-95.
