Power outlets in rear console and trunk

I noticed in the i-Drive users manual posted in this forum that there is mention of 2 power outlets in the rear console and one in the trunk. The text is accompanied by an * which means they are optional. As they are not their own option, does anyone know which option package they come with? My guess is the cold weather package but I am not sure--my dealer doesn't have any stock with that option.

They are an option for Europe, the US does not get them.

Do you know for a fact that they cannot be added separately? For instance, maybe the factory prewired the outlets and all you need is the faceplate with the sockets. Not sure why this wouldn't be offered in the states.

maybe fewer people smoke in the states?

What about people who want to plug in electronic equipment and such? Why would a smoker need power in the trunk? The outlet there makes much more sense for someone who wanted to hook up a portable TV and have some beers before a baseball game.

I suppose this would be worth pursuing if you really wanted this, but I also remember seeing that these were not available in the States. There was a post by someone who was angry about them being advertised in the sales brochures. The conclusion was that these are for European models only, and supposedly there is an asterik or some sort of notation on the ads that denotes this fact.
