How much $ can you get your dealer to lower when everything is set and done?

Depends on the model, and the time of year (ie how many are in stock). Also, there may be marketing funds available from the manufacturer.

In Vancouver, there are dealers who will deal on price, and others who will work in the range of 1000-1500 off of list, all other things being equal. You need to decide if you want to buy on price, or if you want to deal with a dealer with an excellent service reputation (they don't tend to be the same dealers). The ones with the service reputation don't need to deal on price. For example, you could compare the dealer in N. Van, and the one on Boundary Road. I recommend the latter. My sales rep is Valentino, I have had good experiences with him on 4 vehicles.

Dealers can play other games too with admin fees, etc. I received $1700 off list when I signed my lease in June for an X3.

Even with the previous model, I was not able to get more than 5% off (+3.5$ financing from BMW). The 3 dealers I visited were all prompt to offer -4%. I offered -6.5% to all no one was interested. Only one called me back with -5%. So 420$ more in my pocket.

Hi Saintor,

Yes, they gave a lot on the e46s. Word now on E90s is 1% for new clients, 2% for existing. That's okay with me!

I got 3.5% of my well-equipped 325 and my parents got over 4% off their well-equipped 325. This was without a lot of haggling. From Performance BMW in St. Catharines.
