Here's the response I got from BMW NA today regarding seat/mirror linking to the remote. I am pissed, needless to say:
"The key and seat memory feature was not available for E90 3 Series vehicles produced prior to 9/05. BMW is currently looking into the availability of a software update in the future that will allow this feature for your vehicle. The RDS feature was also not available at the time your vehicle was produced, however, there has been a recent software release that will activate this feature on your vehicle."
This says to me the "September update" won't bring pre-09/05 cars up to the same functional level as post-09/05 cars. This particular feature is documented in the book and the brochure. I can't believe they sold me something that might now never work.

On the same brochure it also shows storage nets on the backs of the front seats. (Storage for stuff!!). I did not get that either!! Get used to it!!

Get used to it!! | Um all you have to do is go and tell your dealer that you did not get the storage nets and they will install them... btu seeing you are from Rochester you probably bought your car from Holtz... good luck! There is a bulletin about the nets!

Hopefully this does not ruin the enjoyment of the car for you; I know that I was disappointed about the BT stuff on my E46, but the car puts a smile on my face when I drive it so I don't really care.

I can't believe they sold me something that might now never work. | I'm not sure I understand the feature you were investigating but I'm interested. Does this mean that the key would somehow personal seat and mirror positions and restore them to these positions once inserted in the dash? BMW's response would then mean that the update they refer to makes it possible for remembering mirror positions but not the seat position. Is this correct?
