First Oil Change

Anyone drop their oil and replace after the initial break-in period? I'm assuming that's it's not necessary since it's not in the manual.

Here's my experience changing the oil for my e90:

Is there any knowledgeable person out there (BMW tech or whatever) who can state definitevely whether the first oil put in the car by BMW is the same as the oil they specify for later oil changes, or is the initial oil a special oil needed during break-in. I've seen people wondering about this but don't think I've ever seen a final answer on this.

Does this break in oil change affects the 'oil service' readout on the dash board? I have 2500 miles on my car and just noticed it dropped from 15,000 to 14,000 miles.
