I can't seem to get my 06 E90 330i to adjust the mirrors and driver's seat to their last position when the car door is unlocked or when the door is opened. This car has iDrive.
The memory buttons on the seat (non ZSP) work fine. But I thought the seat mirror positions were supposed to be stored in the remote, so your other driver and you didn't have to remember to hit the buttons.
(The buttons work very oddly. If the car door is open or radio readiness is off, all you have to do is push the memory button once. If neither of these are true, you have to HOLD the 1 or 2 button until the adjustment is completed. This is the "convenience mode." Damned if I understand why this is that way.)
Back to the main point: this car is so complicated that I might actually be doing something wrong, so I thought I'd ask.
I've been removing the remote, then changing the position of the seat. Then I lock the car, wait 30 seconds or so and unlock it with the remote. Even if I then insert the remote, the seat doesn't return to the stored position.
Can someone who's got this to work tell me how it works in your E90?
Thanks.

The new software update is supposed to correct some of these problems.
About having to hold the button 1 or 2 to adjust seat position: probably a safety/legal feature that prevents you from accidentally bumping the buttons while the car is on or moving.

Your dealer will need to program the remote; it's not owner programmable. They don't do it unless the buyer insists because it's a hassle and keys have a tendency to get mixed up between family members. Also, you would need to get the keys set to their defaults again when you sell the car. Using the buttons on the seat achieves the same end without the potential inconvenience of using a key that isn't set properly.
Re: the seat buttons. If you have not yet turned the key in the ignition, one touch will adjust the seat and mirrors to your setting. Once the key has been turned, the only way to make the adjustment is to hold the button down as long as it takes. This is a safety feature to prevent you from accidentally activating the seat control while driving. Imagine you're cruising down the highway at 85 and you reach down and hit your wife's button by mistake. No problem, except for the fact that maybe you're 6'3" and she's 5'2". Suddenly the seat is ramming your legs into the bulkhead and your chest against the wheel. Get it?
This is all explained in your owner's manual.

Seriously, "turning the key in the E90" means one of several different states, according to the manual. There's off, "radio readiness," and ignition on. If you have your foot on the brake at radio readiness and press the start button, the car starts.
The manual for the iDrive-equipped car describes on page 43 the way the seat memory is supposed to work, including setting it via iDrive to either restore the seat position when the car is unlocked via the remote or when the door is opened. It can also be turned off. The dealer doesn't have to reprogram anything.
BTW, I always RTFM before I ask a question here.

If you have Idrive you can. Go to car setup, central locking and you can set driver seat when unlocking. You need the key inserted when you set your seat and mirror postion.
