 Taste of Lexus

Hey Everyone

I went to the Taste of Lexus at FedEx Field today and it was good experience.

I test drove the new IS350 on a small track set up by Lexus and also compared it with a 330i there. The IS350 is nice in its styling and 0-60 time but when it came down to overall performance the 330i is better. The IS350 had alot of body roll, it was not as easy to manuver as the 330i.

I know I have the car but my friend who owns a Subaru Legacy also agreed that the stability and braking on the 330i makes it a extremely fun car.

The funniest part about the event was the announcer:

"Ladies and gentlemen you're going to be driving some very fast cars - the IS350, the IS250 and the BMW 330i. Now the IS350 is faster than the BMW 0-60 by a full second. But anyone here who drives the BMW will know it's a better handling car. The BMW goes where you point it and translates that to the wheel. But not everyone wants that. The Lexus steering is a little lighter. And it's faster on that first sprint."

I don't think they're going to sell more Lexus cars by letting you drive a clearly better car on an autocross track. It was funny that the line for the 330i was longer than the IS350 and IS250 line combined. They should have brought more BMWs. In fact, they shouldn't have even brought any Lexuses. On the way out I asked the brochure lady if she had one for the 3 series.

Clearly, they should have secretly crippled the 330i's in some ways if they wanted to showcase the IS350's better.

87 octane gas? Lower tire pressures? Dirty air filters?

sounds like a stock IS350 is not going to work without $$$ mods investment
thanks for your report

The line for the 330 is longer because its a Lexus event. There are many more IS's going around the track than BMWs.
