Am I crazy for almost wanting a 325 JUST because it's 200lbs lighter?

That's according the bmwusa.com. I wonder, since the engine is the same block, is it just standard feature options that account for the 200lbs? Used to be the smaller engined cars handled a little better because the motor weighed less. If the block is the same between 325i and 330i that wouldn't be the case here would it?

Wondering because I'd probably come close to getting most of the same options the 330i has standard. If all the weight is coming from extra options then it wouldn't make much diff. I want this 3 to be more driver's car than posh. Even if I went 330, it'd be manual with sport and heated seats. *Maybe* fold down rear but that's IT.

Wish they'd just come out with an e90 ZHP ... I know I should've bought an e46 zhp when I had the chance.

No, that just means you can eat more fast food because you have 200 lbs to spare!

The differnce is in the brakes, chrome trim and the intake and the motors associated with it in conjunction with the bigger heavier rims, and the bigger exhaust. The tranny is also supposed to be a bit heavier. there is the 200lbs. and I sure the rims account for most of that, the standard 17" are heavy and the 162's weigh a ton. not sure if BMW uses sprung or unsprung weight.

If the 330i has the options you are looking for then I really think it would be the better deal. I chose the 325i because for my needs it has more than enough power so I had no need to spend more for HP. Almost did just because I liked the look of the 330 sport, but after driving I thouht the suspension was to stiff for me. Getting old.
