 Took Re delivery TODAY

I did ED and I had a great time. I was excited about getting my car back however, I did have 3 negatives:

1. My front right wheel wasn't repaired, as I noted the damage at dropoff at Harms in Munich, and was told it would get fixed at VDC upon redelivery. My SA told me that I had to call the insurance company now for ED. Just another hassle I shouldn't have had to deal with.

2. My I-drive totally wouldn't work or radio on its own for that matter. It was locked on the warning screen and wouldn't advance past that. My SA told me that since the service center was closed I had to bring it back at my earliest convienence to get the car reprogrammed. Pretty broad solution but I'm sure that some software must be tweaked. Didn't have a problem on ED at all however.

3. I didn't have a full tank of gas! I know I guess this can't be expected always but I certainly did. For north of 40 G's and they couldn't top off the tank, it was half full when I dropped in Munich and half full when I picked it up. Just a little thing that makes a good impression on the buyer for shizzle (some slang for ya).

Good things:

1. I usually drive fairly fast but wow I flew home it seemed, I hit 135 I'm embarrassed to say (only for a few seconds) but it was a straight shot coming north on the 15 and wow that was awesome, although I am glad I didn't hurt anyone or me.

2. I like the acceleration on the freeway, but not from a stop. I have the step and it is sluggish kicking into 1st/2nd it seems. I hope this problem gets resolved as I have heard others have thought their engines get better with age.

I ordered rear deck spoiler (primed), walnut gear selector, walnut brake handle from Pacific BMW. Their prices can't be beat I found and will get the spoiler painted at their place and installed next weekend I hope.

Gotta do my tint this week and was thinking ceramic HO 30 all the way around, any other opinions on that? And yes I have read all the threads on tint and that is what I have come to, outside of any stong points for something else.

I will post more pictures for shizzle, after my tint and spoiler and accesories.

You already got your full tank in Munich. I did not get mine topped off either.

I have had HO 30 for more than 18 months. I have been very happy with it. It is well worth the premium you pay for it.

Well, Iīm sure it was STILL a nice ,,welcome back`` for the car and its owner.

Regarding the wheel, it seems that the VPC checks are not consistent and getting less so based on owner reports. I find this somewhat surprising as a trend.

It is possible that the VPC updated your software - but sounds like their QC check was not done properly.

The dealer canīt file the claim but you should post this in the E.D. forum as well - for future E.D.s (yours and others), it would be helpful to get a definitive answer on whether owners should file a claim for any damage after leaving the car regardless of whether we believe it will be fixed at the VPC.

My car was redelivered with damage (bumper scraped) caused while being unloaded at VPC. According to my dealer it was noted on the VPC damage report but not fixed.

Originally my SA insisted that I personally file a claim with the trucking company here in the States. I told them that I did not believe that was the correct thing to do since what proof did I have that they did it and not the 4 other organizations that had handled my car since I dropped it off in Nice. The dealership GM happened to walk by and congratulated me on my car purchase so I took the opportunity to raise the issue with him. He agreed that a claimed needed to filed with BMWNA and as they were the policyholder of all transportation insurance (European land, maritime, and US land) and it was up to them to coordinate the coverage. BMWNA reviewed the claim and accepted it. They cut a check to the dealer to get the car fixed. I do not know who, if anybody, reimbursed BMWNA.

Edit: I did not make it clear in my post, it was the dealer who handled filing the claim with BMWNA.

Good point I'm going to contact ED insurance on Monday, and although Harms assured me to "rest easy they will take care of it at VDC in the states", in his words, I probably should have at least notified my dealer of the damage that needed to be fixed before I went to pick it up, to make sure it was done. I'm just glad I don't live over an hour or so away from the dealer, 40 minutes so not too bad.

I am very excited about the car and don't want to seem like someone who is bitching. I'm more just informing others of any immediate dissappointments, which tend to stick out more when we are so excited to get our new cars. I love it and now I have to learn how to care for the interior and exterior and get into the detail forum!!!!!!

I have posted repeatedly suggesting that people need to do a thorough inspection at redelivery to make sure that any damages that you caused and any that may have been caused in transit have been taken care of, if not a least you can then you can go on record and have a recourse. Sometimes in the excitement of being reunited with our car to forget to do this.

3 of us from Texas did ED the same week and all our cars were redelivered with damaged bumpers. Incredible. The 2 other Texan took delivery of their cars before I did. When my CA called to tell me my car was in and ready to be picked up, I asked if he could see any damage to my bumper. He thought I was crazy. I insisted he take a closer look because what other people had reported upon redelivery. After closer inspection the CA did not know what to say.
