Has anyone else had this happen to them yet?
FIRST...I have a a 2006 325 with the adaptive xenons.....you know how the xenon headlights do that cool little roll down then back up thing when you turn them on at night? well mine did that for the first 3 weeks....then my battery died one night because i forgot to turn my lights off....now they wont do that...and when i turn them on, they just "fade in"....anyone know how to fix this?
SECOND
well...about 2 weeks after having it, i noticed when i went into the gas station and came back out, that the "rings" around my left headlight were still on....but my right ones were not...and my lights were off......so i didnt think much of it.....but its happened 3 times since then..and my BMW dealer says they havent heard of anything like this ever happening.....please tell me someone else has had this happen or heard about this happening.......
other thing......arent the side mirrors supposed to turn down when you put it in reverse? mine have never done that....should they?

However, it is not necessary that something is wrong. BMW self-adjusting and adaptive lights run test-movements when the car is turned on, not when the lights are turned on. If you wait a second or two after the car has started to turn the lights on, you may simply be missing the test. Try turning the lights on simultaneously with the car.
I'm not sure what you mean by "fade in." All xenon bulbs take some time to reach the optimal operating temperture and brightness which is why they give the effect of fading on. If that is what you are talking about, that's normal.
If neither of these solves the problem, the car may have had a wiring or software malfunction when the battery died, especially if it was caused by a short (which is unlikely unless someone tried to steal it).

BMW parking lights are activated by turning the indicator stalk to one side. When you do that, the parking lights - front and rear on one side of the car - will stay on until the car is restarted.

If it is not in that position, the mirrors will not drop once reverse is selected.

thanks so much | Hey... just a heads up.... the lights only work when they are in the AUTO mode, so your lights should not have been on and battery not died if they were working at the time. The "rings" aka angel eyes will stay on if you operate the turn indicator, the rear tail light on the side the indicator (blinker) is on. This is a function designed to mark the roadside of a car parked on the street so it is not hit! It is possible that you are hitting the turn indicator when exiting the car. That is more than likely what happened to kill the battery! Check those items out first. Also there are numerous posts in the forum on the adaptive headlights.... they will not turn left when standing still (us) to not dazzle on coming traffic at a light etc. must be in AUTO mode etc. As for the mirror the selector must be to the left side for it to function and you must have the premium package on the 325i!!! good luck!

The posters above are correct, I doubt there is anything wrong with your lights.
