Hey guys, I am going to order this weekend my first bmw and am looking for a last little bit of help. I am ordering a 330i, sport, premium, cwp and steptronic with silver metallic and black leather. The question is does the burl walnut look better or the poplar wood look better. I have not seen in person the poplar but think it might pop better with the black leather. Anyone have a pic I can see or know where to find on this forum a really good photo? Thanks bmwccc |

Thanks bmwccc | I wish I had a photo of my interior handy.
Burl appears slightly darker than the Poplar. I have the Burl wood with a Black interior. My preference is to have a black interior with a dark woork such as the Burl. I only long for the Anthracite (black) headliner that my 2002 X5 w/ SP had.
Poplar looks great too, although i have never seen it paired with a black interior. It should still produce a nice contrast to the black interior, as it is lighter than the Burl.
I feel with either wood, your car will look great. I do not prefer the aluminum trim, that is just my preference.

I ordered the black leather with poplar wood in my 330i. I wasn't sure either until I got the car and am now very happy I chose this combo. The lighter wood is richer looking than the burl wood. I highly recommend it.

Hey, I debated this a lot too, but with the black interior, the burl looks A LOT better. The poplar is a nice color, but it blends better with the lighter interiors, and just looks a little wierd with the black. The "default" wood, according to most dealers, is the burl

The poplar definitely does not look weird with the black. It is slightly lighter than the burl and is more visible in a dark interior. As I stated previously, go with the poplar - it is a much richer look with the black leather.

I agreed that wood looks better in a BMW than alum trim... gives it a luxury feeling. You should be able to find plenty of photos of burl and poplar here

If you still need more I can take some photo for you from my own car this weekend. I have poplar w/ black.
