According to the 96 page 2006 3 Series Product Info PDF, the 325i/330i difference is engine software and a single-stage versus 3-stage intake manifold.
What is the current wisdom on the upgrade possibilities? Simple parts replacement and ECU re-flashing?

havent seen anything yet. Give it a few months to see what the tuners do.
I am waiting for someone to dyno a 330 and 325 on the same dyno/day to see the baseline difference. I am guessing that at least the torque of the 325 is underrated.

Teh 325 looks liek it's like the old 323/328 engine. Crippled breathign with no high end. No thanks.

Nick, we know that can't be possible. Both engines are the new Valvetronic engines, composite magnesium, etc.
Still don't know about getting that extra hp, though....

Quote: | The 330i hp peaks at a significantly higher RPM than the 325. | I know it can't perform the same, but it can't be the old 323/328 engine from the E46. It has all of the new componentry.
