Interesting E90 reviews in Autoweek
Autoweek has a drivers log on the E90 330i this week (June 6th edition), and have five editors weigh in on the car. It seems they don't all agree about how big the improvements are over the E46. Overall, though, the comments are universally glowing in every area except styling. Here's some excerpts... Quote: The outgoing 3 is a car that is nearly impossible to improve upon, and in this case I'm not sure BMW pulled it off. The supposed improved gearbox feels only marginally better to me, the ulta-controlled ride/handling mix feels about the same, which is to say the car drives wonderfully, but so did the old one.
I'm not saying that this is a bad car, it's not. But the old 3 Series was so good I'm not so sure this car is that much better. | Quote: | Originally Posted by Luu The gearbox is three steps ahead of the old car in shift quality, and the steering feels tighter and more direct.
The sum of the parts is what really defines the 3 Series as the quintessential driver's car. | Quote: | Originally Posted by Pavia-Ruachman Never say no to a drive in a 3 Series...this car has it all: style, class, luxury, ability, performance. | Quote: | Originally Posted by Floyd It may not be the fastest or most powerful, but it's all about balance with the 3 Series, and the '06 continues the tradition: a suspension tuned masterfully between full-blown sport and comfort, an engine that makes the most of its displacement without sounding whiny or thrashy, and an interior that doesn't wow but is tight in the build quality department. | Quote: | Originally Posted by Mandel In looking at the new 3 Series performance capabilities, there is a new alpha male in the pack, and that goes for the competition as well as the car it replaces. | | | Reply » Interesting E90 reviews in Autoweek | Full text of this article is now online...

I love how the editor-in-chief gets the displacement of the E90 325i wrong.

Give me a break. If anything, I think this clearly shows very strong bias off the bat. Not to say that there is something wrong with someone loving a car that much (I might be in his shoes if I owned or driven one), but in that case I would not be an objective judge. | | Seriously. Using this guy's logic, a 1988 325 would still be best in class. Which basically presumes the past 17 years have shown zilch as far as automotive refinement & advancement.
| | Reply » Interesting E90 reviews in Autoweek | E90 = design refinement ???? hmmmm no... just look at the sales for may 2005.. and you'll realize that they're dropping while some other manufacturers have increased their sales if compared to last year... Best example I can give you is the Mustang sale which is 45% more than last may....
