Do any hotels in Munich or outskirts have free parking? How bout those hotels near the airport? If not, is parking a costly nightmare???

You'll probably be bumped to the European Delivery section of this forum. Expect to pay 15 Euros/day at a popular hotel like the Marriott Munich North. Secure, gated, elevator access to the lobby & rooms.

Not a costly nightmare. Just ask the hotel. I think ours was about 8E/day at the Torbrau. Besides, when you have your new baby, you'd pay several hundred if there were a bank vault you could park it in for the night. So the price is a minor concern.

As always, I suggest picking up your car on the last day you're in Munich (or the day before if you're leaving in the morning) to minimize the number of days you have to worry about parking.

The Hotel Uhland has free parking and they are VERY reasonable. A 3-Star hotel, though, but a very nice family owned business with nice accomodations.

We paid E12 at the Torbrau, but it was watched from the front desk and was right below our window (It got watched from there too, which was silly cause I had an M5 on one side a 545 on the other). We only had to pay two times more on our travels to Paris, every place else was free and usually covered. The goofy spaceship Hyatt at CDG charged us E20 to park in a basically empty lot...but they also hit me E10 for a can of Heineken that night. Germans love cars, hard to imagine getting any damage in a lot or on the street.

A one-car garage would be enough for me.
