 Bluetooth Audio Device?

When I was pairing up my Treo phone with my new e90, it first registered on the i-drive screen as an audio device for about 2 seconds and then changed to the phone. Does this mean that the bluetooth system will recognize bluetooth players in the future?

Yes. I am sure they are scheduled to release a very cool and perfectly intagrated bluetooth I-pod audio interface kit exactly 31 days after I install a very expensive and slightly cumbersome fiber optic ipod link kluged through the CD changer.

Seriously. That is a really good sign.

It is highly speculated in the iPod roadmap, possibly as soon as Monday when Steve Jobs has a keynote at the Apple developers conference, that a bluetooth iPod will appear. Of course this is highly speculative, but what you have seen in the software makes it very promising indeed knowing how the two companies like to work together.

The promise of track names on screen and next/previous steering wheel control await.

This ties into the rumor of a new wi-fi device that plugs into your TV (like the Airport Express does for your stereo) to stream video which you bought on the iTunes video store from your computer to your TV.

Ahh the infinite heaven of rumors. We'll see next week.

This is standard BT pairing behavior. You see an anonymous reference to the device first, then, when details on the device is received, you see a better description. That in of itself doesn't mean that something is coming, but it's only logical that other audio devices would be supported in the future.
