 The "wow" factor...

really wasn't there...surprisingly.

On my way to a BBQ yesterday afternoon, I finally got a good glance of a 325i E90 on the road. We spent about 5 or so mins on the highway in plain view of each other. I hope he didn't mind me passing and him passing me while I scope out his new ride. It was silver with temp tags. I guess cuz of all the hype and anticipation, my first E90 sighting wasn't as exciting as I had hoped.

My first impression wasn't bad though. I thought it had nice lines and a smooth styling. It definitely is more unique to the E46 than the E46 was to the E36, imho. What I wasn't impressed with was rear styling and how the wheel base profile looked in respect to the body. This may just be with the 325i but the tires looked small and almost like donuts from behind on the highway. I can see BMW tried to add a certain type of aggressiveness but I didn't think it was *that* much, if any, more than the current E46.

Just my opinion and I have yet to sit or drive in one. I guess I'm a victim of the over-hype. Would I take one, if it were handed to me on a silver platter? I sure would! Congrats to those who got one though. Please continue to post your experiences and comparisons.

I noticed a difference between the presence of a 325 and 330 almost instantly. Though it is skewed if one is a sport and the other not. An E90 330 sport nearly growls while standing still. Kinda like the difference between an E60 525 and 545.

Probably a non-SP - the E46's look so much better in the SP outfit as well; the non-SP, esp. the E46/325's look a little anemic IMO

Question; One post mentioned the engine "growls" with the 330i with SP - would the engine sound the same with the 330I without SP - i think the answer is yes as the SP should not impact the sound of the engine in the 330i. Does anyone know if this is correct?

As far as i know... the only differences between the 330i non-SP and 330i-SP are 1) suspension, 2) wheels, 3) seats, 4) steering wheel

So, this should not affect the engine or its "growl"... Besides, i think when propellerhead said that it "growls" (now correct me if i'm wrong propellerhead) he meant that it just *looks* so much more aggressive...

I agree that the SP E90 is a great look, with the 18" wheels etc...while the 325 with stock wheels looks less cool, I find the spok-ish wheels don't look very nice. That's what the turn-off is for me, is that the E90 I would like is way outta my price range for now.
