 Voice recognition

just picked up my Monaco Blue/gray 325i premium/auto/nav/sat

I love the Nav/i drive ...the only problem I am having is that the voice recognition is driving me crazy. I have yet to be able to dial a phone number using my voice without the system messing up. I have spoken slow, loud, soft, in pig latin - nothing works. Any thoughts, ideas?

I've been playing around with it also. What I've learned so far is that you can't rush the commands (not saying you are)...you have to wait for the system to respond with the 2 beeps before you speak the next command. For example, you say" COMMUNICATIONS"
and then wait for the car to respond with the confirmation and beeps before you say "PHONE" , wait for the beeps again, then say the NAME you want it to dial from your address book, etc. It works 90% of the time for me....sometimes the commands get screwed up and I have to start over but I am having fun with it. Good luck.

thanks pal.

Does the voice recognition pick up on the phone list (address book) transeferred from the bluetooth phone or do you have to make a new phone list, independent of the list from my Motorola V710?

It picks up the address book that's transferred with the Bluetooth connection made to your phone. You can also program the address book into either the STAR or DIAMOND button on the Stering wheel, and you can then call up your phone book, use the up/down arrow keys to scrool and hit the Stering wheel "phone key" to dial that name - all without your hands leave the wheel. I set mine up that way and I like it even better than using the Voice commands.

For US spec e90 owners out there, I've heard that those with iDrive do not have RDS functionality for their radios AND cannot play mp3 CD's in the BMW CD changer accessory. Can anyone out there verify this, or otherwise provide anecdotal evidence to the contrary? Thanks.

Also, can you say out loud the number you want called, instead of having a pre-memorized name in your car's phonebook. Like if for instance you get a new number from someone and you want to dial using voice command by saying: "two - one - two - ....". Is this possible?
