Just got back from taking out a new 06 330i and was real dissapointed with the interior. I love the engine and the way it handles and pulls when u switch through the step on the road its got more power than my 04 coupe and the sound system is better and I even like the outside styling but I just couldnt get over the cheapness of the materials inside the car. Just seems like they used more cheap plastic and less real leather and good quality wood. Even when I closed the door it seemed flimsy to me compared to my coupe which locks like a vault when the door is closed. Maybe it will just take some time to get use to but the interior is the only major problem I found in the car like the window switches being moved from the central console to the side, the cup holders that pop out, and the small oval mirrors which make seeing a pain in the ass especially for a sedan other than that I really like the new 3 so maybe Ill luck out when the coupe comes out hopefully they will make some changes.

i agree about the interior tho. saw it at NY auto show, thought it looked really plasticky. but then i'm sure E36 owners thought the same thing of the E46. it's the normal trend of cost-cutting in the automotive industry. blame Infiniti for accelerating it... they proved you could put tacky plastic trim and switchgear in a "premium" automobile and still move them off the sales lot en masse. if they hadn't gotten away with it, i think BMW et al would have throught twice about it.
on the plus side, all that cost cutting does make the car lighter, and you're getting a lot more engine technology, chassis refinement, feature content, etc. for a base price that hasn't crept up a whole lot. "progress" marches on...

I totally agree. Cheap interior and bloated exterior.
Rides like a champ but you should get a liitle more for the money it costs.
