Hi,
I have an E90 320D and I have put 2000 KM on the clock.
Would it be a good idea to get my oil changed to get rid of all the gunk/metal shavings resulting from the Break In, and if so, at what KM's should I do it.
If I do it myself (to save a few Euros), will it show up on the computer when I go for a service? I think the oil pressure warning light may come on for a while the first time I run the engine again until the oil circulates - would this show on the compter as a fault - I dont want to invalidate my warrenty.
Thanks,
Jayo

2000 km is OK.
No, it won't show up at the next BMW service, don't worry about the warranty.

jayo,
how were the 1st 2000? Has it been as expected? I am curious as to how the engine performs/sounds compared to the E46...

Most new cars have a special 'break-in' oil blend that is different from traditional synthetic. You may want to do some research on that before you flush out the break-in oil. Generally, a motor isn't fully broken in until close to 15000 kms. If you change to the regular synthetic oil too soon you may invariably affect certain components from ever breaking in (ie piston rings). There have been documented case where new cars continually consume oil because the piston rings never seated properly. Just food for thought.
