You'll pay as much for a set of wheels new as the price of the SP unless you get a deal on used set.

i understand that....but like i stated in my question, im interested in larger wheels, not the whole sports package.....im trying to find out a ballpark figure for how much buying new wheels/tires for a car cost...ive never bought new "rims" and wheels for my car, so I havent ventured into those kind of prices......any info on my original question would be great if anyone out there knows...thanks

Check out Tire Rack... they have wheel and tire packages that should give you an idea of cost.

If you're looking at BMW oem wheels, I can tell you that for 18" wheels (with tires) you're looking at around a list price of $2400.00 and for 19" around $3500.00. I looked at them recently at my local dealer, and those are the approx. catalog prices if memory serves me right. You could negotiate a discount -- at least 10% and up to 20%.

Tire Rack has much cheaper wheels -- wheel and tire packages around $300 per wheel.

One other thing to think about is the ride height. When you put bigger 17" or 18" rims on your car without the SP springs, it will look like a 4x4. The lower profile tires will emphasis the tire to fender gap. You will probably need to go to aftermarket springs as well. I personally think the SP is worth the $$$ because BMW puts the springs on for you and you will be guarenteed to have a flawless alignment for the lifetime of your car. Who knows what'll happen if you get someone from a tuner shop to throw some Eibachs on your car, besides invalidating your warranty. Also, you will always have an extra set of GOOD rims that you could throw some snow tires on, for those slippery months. All the while enjoying your awesome supportive sport seats.
