The highly respect Automobile magazine just came out with their April issue, and lauded the new E90 as "Bigger, faster, bolder.....the 2006 BMW 330i is an amazing car".
Here are some more snippets.....
"Some critics think the new 3-series is more like previous models than are the 5 and 7 series. But this car is just as radical...if not more so...as its forebears; it just benefits from your accustomed eye. There is the van Hooydonk deck lid flowing out of the quarter panel, completely different headlamps, bolder stance and proportions. There is no mistaking its identity or purpose. A historic, beautiful design."
Pretty much like Road and Track and MT they take pot shots at the aging BMW-philes and tell them the older 3 series was looking ancient. They also say that BMW is once again "setting the bar" for all other car companies to follow in terms of design...that they are light years ahead of their competition.
Gotta love it! Pretty much the entire industry, even the worshipped mag Automobile are all LOVING the new BMW designs. I have the mag in hand haven't looked for an online link, but run to your local shop and pick it up. Some great details on the car and some hard core road testing. Apparently this completely BLOWS AWAY the old 3 series in terms of performance and road handling even WITH active steering.

I didn't realize people worship Automobile, I thought it was just another American advertising whore.

Quote: | I didn't realize people worship Automobile, I thought it was just another American advertising whore. | Automobile mag has been consistently quoted on these boards as one of the most respected mags due to their hardcore testing of the car before reviewing it. In this case they took it out on a long soujourn on the Spanish highways revving it up to 155 MPH and putting it through a torture test.
Great article, anyone looking into getting an E90 should read this one. Much more in depth and useful than the MT or CD article/reviews.

This why I'm aiming for an E90 come April/May. It handles better, has slightly more power and standard options than my E46(which I absolutely love) and I actually enjoy the styling lines of the E90. However, I think I'm getting mine sans active steering, I-Drive, and comfort access. Why? Just can't justify the cost versus my lack of use of these enormous amount of technology features. Anyone whose driven the E65 or E60 knows that the new BMWs are still alot of fun to drive(minus the damn column shifter in the 7) and know that the driving ability of this new generation of BMWs isn't compromised.
