 Roof rack

Probably way to early to have info like this, but does anyone happen to know if the E90 will have the built-in rack mounts? I just ordered a Thule 753 rack for my '04 E46. I'll be hanging onto the car (and rack) for a few more years, but my next car will probably be the new-generation 3er, so it would be a bonus if my rack were compatible.

Interesting point. My guess is that we'll need new footers but maybe they'll keep the lockpoints the way they are. Who knows.

Hard to tell from the current pics, but the new 5 Series uses a new system that clamp from the sides just under the door seals not on top of the roof like the E46

Can't say I like that design. My last SUV had those clamps and opening and closing the door sounded horrible and it seemed to stress the door unnecessarily. It maybe better with the 5'ers but I wouldn't know.

Sounds like a cost reduction to me.
