This question probbaly has been answered many times, I did a search and cannot find the answer. If my sole purpose to do European delivery is to save money and get a lower price car, is it worth it to do european delivery or just order it here. Assume, you only get 7% off US MSRP comes out to about savings of 4000. Could I just fly over for 550$ by myself, pick it up, drive it over to drop off area and fly back right away? Have you heard of anyone doing this and do you think it is worth it?

Many have done the quick fly in/pick up/fly back.
Is it worth it? That is up to you on how you value your time. On paper, the discount sounds big but in reality, its not that great since most US delivery cars can be had for 1k-1.5k over US invoice w/c minimizes the Euro-delivery discount.
To me, part of the experience is the vacation. The memories are priceless.

I have done two euro deliveries with two different dealers. You can bargain on a euro delivery just like you do with a car delivered directly to the dealer. My last purchase was for an X-3 at $600 over the euro invoice price. The 7% savings on the base price is real.

You can get 10% off or more...depending on model, dealership, and how hard you try. There is absolutely nothing wrong with driving the car from the delivery center to the drop-off point. There are many in this forum that will encourage you to drive it on the autobahn and open it up to see some of the sights. You should do that if you can...even if it's a quick trip to the mountains and back. But do the delivery the way it suits you...you're the consumer. Good luck!

In the whole scheme of things the savings are not the reason for the trip, IMHO. Over the next few weeks as the 2006 cars run out you could probably negotiate close to the ED price depending on your area of the country.
It is an event to pickup your car "at the factory", have a chance to tour the factory, and drive your car on the roads that inspired all German car manufacturers since at the early days of the Autobahn (which also yielded quicker trips to those mountain passes)!
I'm doing it in 4 days, arrive Thursday am, leave Sunday noon.

When we were working our deal Edmunds.com was saying that the target price for our car was maybe $100 to $200. off of MSRP. When going to our local dealer and trying to work an ED price over invoice deal I could see that Edmunds may have been right. By going outside the market of the local dealer I was able to work an ED deal that was better than 10% off of U.S. MSRP. Our trip was about 3 1/2 weeks long. I figured to lease a car in Europe for that amount of time would cost between $1700 to $2500 depending on the model chosen. By driving my own car and adding the lease savings to the ED savings, I felt the total savings were extraordinary.
