Non Munich Dropoffs - Much Longer To Ship?

I don't know if this is typical, but I dropped off in Vienna on Nov. 14th (2 1/2 weeks ago) and still have no info that my car has been shipped out so I can only assume it's still sitting on a dock or maybe even still enroute to Bremerhaven.

Meanwhile, Jspira dropped his car off in Munich on Nov. 15th and it was shipped out of Bremerhaven on Nov. 23'd.

My car is destined for the east coast and I've been inputting the VIN at the WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN website, and it keeps coming up with no information available. I've also tried calling HARMS but they just tell me it's too soon and to call back in another week.

If it is typical for non Munich dropoffs to take far longer to ship out I'll keep that in mind in planning future trips.

I dropped off in Nice a week after someone I knew dropped their car off in Munich. The car arrived at VPC 1 week after the Munich car and then it went into a big black hole and disappeared. The Munich car was redelivered right before Thanksgiving while I did not get to see mine again until after New Year's.

Naturally Munich and Sindelfingen (Stuttgart) are huge drop-off points for BMW and MBZ cars. So they will have the best ability to get the car to port quickly. Vienna just doesn't see the volume of cars dropped off....so your car will have to wait longer for transportation. Cars might sit on the Harms lot in Munich for a day or two but in Vienna it might be a week or more.

It is typical. Munich has full trucks leaving almost every day, since sometimes trucks from the factory even pick up e.d. cars and take the to Bremerhaven. Especially outside of Germany, where Harms uses contractors and doesn´t have its own trucks, this can add significant time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...they closer you drop-off to a port the sooner it gets on a boat. That's just common sense. What happens when it gets to the VPC is anybodys guess. Paris to KC, 6 weeks exactly.

Not really correct, sorry. Your car will get to the port fastest if it is dropped off in München. Second fastest are points within Germany, since those are operated by Harms and Harms trucks will carry the car to the port, although the frequency of trucks is not the same as München (which is, most of the time, daily). Third fastest is Italy. Why? Because the car leaves Italy the moment you hand over the key and goes to München. For a variety of reasons, Harms does not want the car to stay in Italy longer than necessary I have been told.

Finally and fourth, once you are outside Germany (including Austria for that matter), the car is trucked by a non Harms truck to Bremerhaven.

This of course is discounting dropping off in Bremerhaven. The Harms office in Bremerhaven is very close to the port. Just look at a map. From there, they can drive the cars over the two blocks.
