Does ED take longer?
Hey there,
If I was to do ED, does it take longer to get the car here in the States than it would if I was to simply order it (not counting the time I spend in Europe)?
Also, is it a bad idea to go pick up the car in Nov/Dec? I know the car comes with summer tires so am I asking for trouble?

As it seems that you are new, I am going to recommend that you use the search feature in the top right of the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge here and is real easy to find it. To answer your questions quick.... but remeber there is a ton of info here on these topics.
1) yes it takes longer. Order time, when you have the car there, drop off then wait for shipment to US then clear customs and the Vehicle processing center. Looking at 3 months total east coast/ 4 months west coast on average etc. 2) lots of info on this.... but be prepared for weather, and many come with all season tires. Also realize that there is at least a 1 month lead time for delivery in Europe so the car would have already needed to be built if you are thinking about this year, and utilize a dealer that is familiar with the process (lots of info here on this as well). This December the delivery center is closed for some time in Dec. Jan. as well as the factories. You may be able to rush one for this year now, or take one out of the ED pool (people who bail out and the car is there).... Best of Luck

I placed my ED order at the end of August 2005. My vehicle was build mid September and I picked my car up at the end of September. My car is currently in NY port as of yesterday. I hope to take re-redelivery within 2 weeks (by November 4th) if I am lucky. If that's the case, then he whole process will be just over two months. I understand that non-ED orders take about two months as well.

Figure 4 weeks extra, plus the time you have the car in Europe, plus ~1-2 weeks to get it to the port and on the boat.
Also, it may seem to take longer because you have to schedule around your vacation time. And the wait is agony as well.
That said, neither way is overnight delivery and if you can do ED and stomach the 6-8 extra weeks it might take, go for it if you can. You won't remember the delay after you get the car here.
