 october 10th ed itinerary

please give us some input on our itinerary. my coworker will be going along with me on the trip. traveling dates are 10/8/05-10/15/05, about a week's worth of time. don't know many places to visit, i'am into historic sites and other unique places not found in usa. this is what we have planned so far.

10/8/05(saturday am)-10/10/05(monday am)
-will tour the surrounding city of munich for the weekend. i'll pick up the car on monday am.

10/10/05am-10/11/05
-drive off to paris straight from pickup in munich. stay the night in paris and wake up early for paris tour to eiffel tower and leave sometime later that day.

10/11/05-10/13/05
-from paris to milan and venice

10/13-10/14/05
-from venice, take a drive through switzerland to pickup chocolate and maybe rolex and onto drop off point in munich.

10/15/05
-flyout of munich to jfk

what do u all think of this? is this even doable? time is a major factor because of the drive from munich to paris and paris to milan, each is about a 7 hr trip according to map quest. any suggestions or sites to visit along these routes? thanks, to the 5 others who are picking up their cars on the 10th what are each of ur plans? should we do a bimmerfest meet up there?

Isn't this geographically backwards? Driving north to Paris and then south beyond munich to Milan and Venice.

Also, Milan isn't terribly exciting - fairly industrial city.

Would suggest picking one direction and a few cities to spend more time in.

wow that would be too much driving for me. I stayed in Milan for 2 nights and wasn't impressed with it to be honest. You can see the fashion there, but Venice is much nicer with more sights to see. With only 5days to see everything and 4 nights I would make a decision do you want paris, or italy? The exception is if you are going to drop off in one of those locations, and not have to make your way back to munich.

I would jet down to venice after getting the car, and spend the next 2 nights there, then drive to Florence to the next two nights and on your way to munich on the 14th stop in Austria or detour to Switzerland. Remember you have to drop your car off by 4:30 to Harms, possibly alittle later with a call.

Dude I would like to see you try your proposed itinerary, and get a report back...... i usually slept in most of the time and got late checkouts of the hotel forthe time change and all the driving I did, and alittle romance made me alittle tired .

P.S. You may want to schedule a few days of vacation after all that driving before you get back to work

I don't like it... you don't have a theme going and are far to all over the place for me. I like driving alot. My two EDs were 4400 and 2000 miles. But what is your purpose? There are many interesting places much nearer by and will be just as rewarding.

I love Paris, but I say forget it on this trip... it's just plain dumb and the wrong direction for the other stops. Pick any number of interesting places (for the one day you will be there ) somewhere between Munich, Switzerland and Venice.

On my first ED I did do all those places, a big giant circle around Europe from Munich to the Northern tip of Denmark, to Paris, South of France, Florence, Milan, back to Munich and up to London, but I had a month to do it....

Yours is not good planning.
