This is my first ED trip to Munich during the end of October and I would be grateful for any help on the following issues:
1 Hotel - Thinking of staying a the Le Meridien Munich which is opposite the main railway station in Munich. (a)Does anyone know anything about this hotel ?? good location?? (b) Best place on the internet to get good pricing for the hotel?? (c) I heard that Lufthansa has a shuttle bus downtown. Is this the best way or should I take a cab or the train from the airport. Recommendations would be appreciated. 2 - Transportation to Pick up. Since the Hotel is near the train station I was thinking of taking the subway to Freimann for the pick up. (a) Is this practical?? (b) How far a walk from the Freimann subway station to the BMW pick up location?? (c) would it be better to take a cab??
3) Drop off to Harms - Ineed to pick up and drop off to Harms in the same day and would like to keep my driving in Muncih to a minimum .
(a) Can someone provide step by step directionf from Munich pickup to Harms drop off?? (b) how long should it take to drive from Freimann pickup to the Harms dropoff assuming I leave BMW pickup at around 10:30 am??
I am sure some of this may have been covered in previous posts, but I have been unable to find specific answers. Any help and specifici responses would be greatly appreciated.
Any links to previous posts or external links would also be appreciated.
Thanks

A lot of your questions will be answered in your ED packet.
Here is a link to the Lufthansa Bus: http://www.lufthansa-terminal2.com/en/airportbus.pdf The bus is great....I wouldn't use any other way to and from the airport.
NEVER take cabs in Munich if possible. For the cost of a short cab ride you can buy a nice dinner.
The best way to get to the Delivery Center is on the U-bahn....detailed directions in you ED packet. It's probably a 5 minute walk from Freiman to the Delivery Center.
They will give you a detailed map to the Harms drop-off location at the Delivery Center. It's about 5 miles or so and it's located north of the Delivery Center (on the way towards the airport) This is probably the only time in Munich that you'll need a cab: getting from Harms to the U-Bahn station to go back into Munich or from Harms to the airport. The people at Harms can call a cab for you. I was given a free ride by someone to the U-Bahn station by someone who worked at Harms...the U-bahn was maybe 2 miles from Harms.
I used Priceline to book the Marriott...so I can't help you with Le Meridien. Do a forum search for more answers.

OTOH, a very nice deal if you're travelling with someone, is to get a Partnertageskarte for 16 Euros. It'll get you in to the train station (or to anywhere else in the S-Bahn / U-Bahn / bus system) and then give you travel privileges throughout the system for the rest of the day. (I think a Tageskarte for one adult is 9 Euros.) I believe the Lufthansa bus (which can't be faster than the train, can it?) is 9 Euros per adult, 16 RT.
I don't recall any baggage difficulties, save when we needed to heave suitcases up a step onto a bus after we transferred from the S-Bahn at the train station in order to get to our hotel.

s | Agreed. Somewhere here, and you'll find it with a search of this forum, is a detailed, photographic set of directions. The walk might be 10 minutes, not five, but either way, it's very easy, through a quiet residential neighborhood. The train takes about 20-30 minutes from downtown munich (maybe less--it's all a haze from the jetlag).

We took a cab from Munich Airport to downtown, E40. Had a bad flight over and this was quick, fast, easy and I don't like to ride on a bus. I think it kinda depends on what shape you're in after the flight. Delivery Center is easy to find from the station...just ask someone if you think you're lost but it is right next to a big football (Soccer) field. The ED folk will give you maps and directions to Harms etc. It's easy, relax!

We stayed at the Meridien in July when we did ED. Priceline hooked us up. It is a really comfortable and clean hotel, internet access in rooms. Perfect.
We walked around the first night, but took a cab to the delivery center in the AM. After that we drove, using NAV to the dealership and the factory for a tour. Parking for the one night at the Meridien was safe and cost €15. We left early the next morning for our drive through the mountains through Austria and on to Venice. The ED packet will give you directions to the drop off center.
