We're planning to stay at the Marriott in a little over a week (picking up the car on the 17th of June - woo-hoo!), and I was wondering whether anyone knows whether they charge extra for use of their wireless internet access in common areas? I've tried calling the hotel directly, but it's the middle of the night there and the guy at the desk at the moment has no idea. I know they charge for in-room high-speed access to the tune of 19.95 Euro (yikes). I'm told that at US hotels, even if the in-room access is an extra fee, access to their wireless network is complimentary. Nobody can tell me whether this is true in Munich. Anyone know for sure?
Thanks!

Its not free. Wifi in Marriott in Germany will run about $20 a day (or something like that). If you have T-Mobile hotspot account, then you should try and stay at the Sheraton Properties, as all Sheraton properties in Germany are setup w/ T-Mobile HotSpot wifi service, as well as all StarBucks Coffee.
hope this helps,

You can find out from the USA 800 number for Marriott. They'll give you details. I used the internet cafes in Munich which were very cheap....but I was only reading email...not doing any serious work.
As always...I'm warning you not to use the Marriott phones to call the US or anywhere else. I spent $400 for 40 minutes of calls to Calif. My entire room bill for 6 nights was $425 out the door via Priceline. You can imagine how angry I was at check out. Ask at the front desk for a list of all charges for everything (phone, internet, etc) before you use these services.

You used a hotel phone for a 40 minute phone call from Europe to California??? Was this like your first time ever staying in a hotel or something?

Quote: You used a hotel phone for a 40 minute phone call from Europe to California??? Was this like your first time ever staying in a hotel or something? | Well...there was no info in my room regarding the charges to use the phone....just the cost of the mini-bar....which I avoided like the plague.
And, uh, no....it was my 35th trip to Europe since I was a kid. (My papa worked for a major airline)
I guess I made the ASSumption that since global calling rates have come down so much they would be expensive but not obscene at a hotel. Silly me.
