This is a new one on me. I've been waiting for my E90 330i that arrived at Newark on 5/30. This is the longest re-delivery time that I've ever experienced, previously the longest was 8 days from port arrival to dealer.
The BMW dealer system showed an original ETA of 6/4 for the dealer (same date is shown on OC). In fact, as of today, it still shows 6/4. Yet the status code shows that it has not been released to carrier yet. My dealer tells me that its not showing up as a damaged car. They called up to the VPC yesterday and got word that the delay is due to US Customs. Apparently my car is stuck with them.
Anyone else seen this before? I always thought that the US Customs part of the process takes less than a day.
FYI, here's a timeline on my ED
5/4 - pick up in Munich 5/6 - drop off in Munich 5/11 - car booked for transport 5/14 - car received at port terminal in Bremerhaven 5/17 - car loaded on vessel - and ship sails 5/29 - ship arrives Newark 5/30 - car discharged at port

I'm not exactly sure of the reason, but PittBMW had an unusually long delay... he still checks in, so perhaps he can say.

There was some fine print in the Ed packet about customs being more through than they used to be and the overall redelivery process taking longer. I'll see if I can find the exact quote.

The pertinent paragraph: Upon arrival, the vehicle must first clear U.S. Customs and Department of Agriculture inspections before it is released to the Vehicle Distribution Center. Please note that these inspections have recently become more thorough resulting in longer processing times. The VDC treats every European Delivery car as a priority, but the processing time will be longer if any repairs are needed. It may take up to twenty business days from the actual docking date at the port for the car to reach the dealership.

Maybe it had something to do with the kilo of cocaine you left in the trunk?
