I am thinking of getting a 2005 x3 thru ED (because I am not sure if there will be a facelift/price change for x3 in 2006 and if so, whether or not I will like the new look/whether the new price is going to be better or worse).
1) Can someone tell me when is the latest I need to place an ED order at the dealer if I want a 2005 model?
2) Which of the following would be a better deal? Wait till later this year when the 2006 model comes out, go to a local dealer and bargain for a 2005 model on the floor (hopefully with the options I want); or ED still is the better deal no matter what?
Thanks in advance!

Others may be able to answer this question better b/c they may follow the market on x3's. If you look at the 3 series and the prices. The 2005, money-wise, is probably a better if not equivalent deal to an ED. This is because of the new 06 models so may not apply to x3. good luck.

You may want to wait for the 06 model for the following reasons:
ED models are not price sensitive to end of model year discounts or incentives so you will pay the same price for a MY 05 or 06.
By the time your 05 car gets back to the States it may be considered a 1 year old car if the 06's are already for sale. Big time depreciation.
Some things may become standard for little or no change in pricing in the new MY. It happened to me. I got "free" automatic headlights and rain sensing wipers which had been an option on the 03 models.
Good luck with your decision.

Word over at the Roadfly X3 board is that 2006 will not have the new engine. I'm getting my 2005 3.0i in Munich on April 22 - I gave it a number of extensive test drives and found the existing engine to be quite good so didn't care too much about the new one - plus the current 3.0 has been in use for so many years you have to think it's going to be more reliable than a new design.
