 DME software version



Do ED cars come with European version of the DME software when you take delviery in Munchen, then it gets reloaded with U.S. once the car is in VPC?

This is important because I would like to buy a um, present for someone who might be doing ED on an M3, and we all know that 175mph is better than 167mph. So I need to know if I can bring a battery charger along with the Shark Injector.

It's too bad that Porsche has such a lousy ED program, not to mention expen$ive, compares to the Bay Em Vay. But then, that's why BMW uber alles!

Post's like this worry me I'm not sure I want to know about some dude trying to do 175 on his two week Euro Delivery... probably some 17 year old kid? (sigh)

Its a completely NA / US car as just a little bit of research would tell you. By the way, M3s are limited to 155 in US trim, not 167.

To be clear, I disagree with your assumption and think in your case 167 is preferable to 175 and 155 is preferable to that. However the break in limit of 105 would be my preference for you and your friend!

You're incorrect.

The M3's speed limiter is only active in 6th gear. In fifth, you can go to the rev limiter.

And given that in the past Stuka (whose previous M3 was totalled by his dealer, and who now drives a 911 Turbo ) has actually been (or said he's been good) about break in limits, I'd think they're planning on doing a lot of travelling first.

Don't be so sure about the completely NA car with regards to software. Some drivers on the M tour have discovered that they couldn't go 155 during the 1200 mile break in even when they tried. This is why I am asking whether they reflash the DME to U.S. spec at port.

Both the driver and I have fahrer training under our belts, I can easily hold an E46 M3 at double locked sideways thruogh turns in the rain, so no need to worry.

I will make sure that we will have easy access to (///) section, and even at 105mph, if I stay up two nights (no stau at night), the car will be broken in in two days.

175 is not that fast, but at least it can be done legally.

Stuka, and his "friend" Butthead are certifiable. But that's a separate issue.
