Help for Hotels in Prague, Vienna, and Salzburg

Hi everybody, I received confirmation today for my new E90 on May 30 along with my wife's X3 So I need your help to find good hotels in Prague, Vienna and Salzburg...In Munich I am staying at the Uhland. Preferably I'd like places like the Uhland so that I can get the "feeling" of a european cozy hotel vs a "chain operated place".... Please advise

I suggest you read Rick Steve's guidebooks for those areas and take note of the hotels he recommends. He's usually into more the european hotel stays than the run of the mill chain hotel.

Another option is to wing it. I did that in 2000 and 2005 and it usually works out better for the itinerary.

Also, try doing a search here and see what pops up when you enter those cities as a search criteria.

We usually stay at places just below top end. Both of these are more expensive that the Uhland, but have great locations, euro-modern (but not chain) rooms, broadband, A/C, great breakfasts, etc:

Prague - Hotel Josef
Vienna - Hotel Das Triest

While in Europe, we preferred to stay in family hotels that had a pure European feel to it....similar to the Uhland. One of our best finds was in Salzburg at Guesthouse Steinerhof.

It is located a few minutes from the city center and is well connected by bus. The best part of the stay was its location. All rooms face the back which overlooks the Alps. Wow, what a view to experience as you wake up in the morning. The breakfast was very good and the owner was very friendly and helpful.

A search on this forum would probably help. I enjoyed staying at the Zur Goldenen Ente in Salzburg. It's a Rick Steves recommendation. Nice old hotel in the old town on a pedestrian alley. Parking is in the main parking lot for the old town (buried in the mountain, in other words). You can drive with 50 meters of the door to drop off your luggage.
