Since BMW isn't offering competive finance or lease deals when they aren't running special promotions, can you get your own financing or lease through an outside lease company when using ED? I think you can't because you have to commit to the car purchase or lease before the car is in the US. If you cannot use your own financing, then the only workound I can see is going ahead with financing through BMW, then immediately refinancing for a better rate when the car is delivered to the US.
Anyone financed or leased an ED vehicle with an outside bank, credit union or leasing company?

My Credit Union was pretty confused about the whole ED thing but ultimatly it seemed like it would be fine.

I financed with CapitalOne. No problem. Did tell them it was ED. They had the best rates too.....4.34%.

Yes, this has been discussed pretty extensively actually. I financed with outside company. Actually my dealer found it and they were competitive with capital one whose check I brought in. If you do finance with them, don't try to explain to them the whole ED intricacies - they'll get confused and think you are buying a car abroad and try to import it. Just give them the vin which you'll have by that time and tel them the dealer will forward the whole registration paperwork later. they'll be fine with that. It also all depends who you gonna get on the phone at these companies - whenever there is any deviation from the manual, the common sense either kicks in or not - in most cases it doesn't so keep it simple.

Will the state DMV paperwork already be processed before the car is delivered to the US dealership?
