14,500 to 1st and 15,500 miles to 2nd oil change?
Took my car in for 1st oil service today at 14,500 miles which the indicator called for. When I left the dealer the inspection 1 service indicator showed 15,500 miles to go. Is this typical to add on miles for subsequent oil changes/service? When reset does the car pick the number of miles to the next service or does a person? I hate to see the service interval extended since I had to add oil twice getting to 14,500 miles.
I realize people don't like these oil change questions so before anyone asks.
Yes, I read the manual and did not find any specific information regarding going more than 15,000 miles between services.
Yes, I searched other threads and did not find anything on this specific topic.

When the counter is reset, it starts at 15525 miles, but the counter counts down faster/slower depending on how you drive.

That is a COUNT DOWN guage, not readout of when the service is due (in miles0 So as you drive, you will see that number count down each time you start the car. It is based on fuel consumption, so it will count down slower or faster than the actual miles.
So to get the mileage at the next service, add the current miles to the coutner and you get the next service is due at 30,025 miles (14,5000 + 15,525).
