I saw a nice 535i mid 80's production. Can somebody shed some light on specs and what to look for. I always thought the 535is was the desired trim level.

We used to have a 533i.
It was a great car for the time. I loved the look.
Unfortunately, almost all the examples that you will find will probably be very high mileage and/or beat up. Also, by modern standards the handling is hairy.

The (IMHO) e28 was the best built series ever built by BMW. I have owned over 30 BMWs and worked for BMW for nine years. Most parts are still available either through the dealer, ebay, or dismantlers. I currently own four of them, from concours (1), daily driver, project car that is halfway complete and with any luck will be completed by Bimmerfest this year, to a special project that will have a monster motor (BMW of course) car that will be in the works next fall.
I do, however prefer the euro model as the stateside bumpers look hideous. The M30 motor is the power preference and will take just about as much abuse as you can give it!
These cars are bullet proof and may I suggest that if you haven't driven one, please do so!
Granted, they don't have the styling or technology that the modern BMWs have in fact they are kinda homely looking but what a car!
Hope this helps! Ron

Ron, Welcome to the Bimmerfest!
We would be glad, if you could share any photos of your E28s.
Also, don't forget to check the Bimmerfest 2006 forum

Thanks Alex, et. al!
I am new to posting here, but I have been to two Bimmerfests-2003 and 2004. I had a special welcome last year from Jon as he staged my cars in a reserved spot. I also was honored with 1st place in classic for my euro M5-another shocker to me as I had forgotten they had awards!
Here are some links for pictures of my cars. There are only two of them here as the others are either at the body shop or awaiting transformation. I had a hard time uploading pictures here as they were too large.
Hope this works. This website was created by Jeremy Novak from mye28.com.
Cheers, Ron
