 BMW Warranty

I know if you buy a used BMW, with the CPO, you can get an extended warranty in addition to the original warranty.

If you buy it from other sources, can you purchase some sort of exteneded warranty assuming the car is still under the 4 year/50000 original warranty. If so and any idea what the general price is and whether one can get it from BMW and/or dealers ??

Thanks..

Extended warranties normally require that they be bought prior to the expiration of the manufacturer's original warranty.

Agree with LDV above. I purchased an aftermarket "blanket" (super-duper platinum diamond etc. whatever) warranty just before 50k from www.1sourceautowarranty.com and have used them twice for some issues. They were more than fair and easy to deal with. I paid around $2500 for this extended warranty. It is good to 100k and 6 years.

From the 1sourceautowarranty site

Due to new state insurance regulations, effective July 1, 2004, 1SourceAutoWarranty.com is temporarily unable to offer vehicle service agreements to California residents.

Thank you for your understanding and patience at this time.

hehehe...call them anyway...there is an EASY way to get around that little regulation. Like if you buy the warranty and live in, say, Nevada, and you happen to move to California...the warranty is still good....

It works along those lines....got a buddy outside of California??

You cannot buy the BMW extended warranty unless the original warranty has not expired, AND you are the original purchaser. If you go aftermarket on the extended warranty, I would recommend doing extensive google searches and check with the BBB before purchasing. There are MANY examples of people later being denied claims for no particular reason. People that are happy with their warranty, are most often those that have never made a claim.
