New Mod Idea for CAI + Heat shield...

Well here is my CAI using the stock box. Haven't seen this done yet.

This is the "Cliff CAI" ha ha! (always wanted a mod named after me)

I cut the snorkel so it takes air from the fender over the wheel well and cut the front of the lower grill to route air there. i may put another path to the bottom of the air box. i also used the pvc relocate to put the ambient air temp sensor next to the k&n. better post and pics later, taking care of the twins now...

here are the pics:

filter:

air sensor install:

finished, looks stock:

The idea of most CAI is to remove the restrictive air box and get more air into the engine for better performance. Nice job though!

ok last part to the mod.

the box is a little restrictive but i think it is mostly from the filter and snorkel.
my new filter definitely has MUCH more surface area! and i have cut the snorkel at its widest area and to take air from the wheel well, and added another intake area (read on...)

but:
still felt restricted, the box was not getting enough air for the filter so i cut another air path from the bottom of the box. (the filter practically fills the box)

went for a drive and had great throttle response...

new hose from bottom:

from inside:

had to cut through the pan underneath the stock box, there was metal under half of it the other half leads right into the wheel well.

big filter:
