Hi, I own a bmw 528i and there is a red blinking light right next to the clock botton on the radio panel . I dont know what it is, nor do I know how to stop it from blinking. Does anyone know what that light is for? Thanks

On my car, that little blinking light is a type anti-theft device. Simular function to that bigger blinking light below your rear-view mirror. Its a warning to potential theives. If your audio head-unit is stolen, chances are unless the thieves really know what their doing, its gonna be junk to them because a personal security code would have to be entered to reactivate the system after it was disconnected or messed with. So unless they have the code or are smart enough to know how to find it, it's more or less junk and a waste of their time.

If I had mine handy, I would look it up.
I believe that is the autocirculate timer indicator.

Thanks for the info. However I have looked again and again in the manual but I do not see anything about this light nor do I find any refrence made to autocirculate TIMER.

I had the exect same problem with my 1997 528i. I could not figure it out and The mechninc could not figure out the problem. There are three fuses for the radio I took one out and the light quit blinking. I did not take the other two fuses out. The one I took out as I recall was the first on in the list. This may not be the correct method for resolving this issue however my light is not blinking anymore.
A WORD OF CAUTION IF YOU POWER DOWN THE RADIO (ie pull all the fuses) YOU MUST HAVE THE CODE TO MAKE IT WORK AGAIN.
