Way too thick on cold start (even for summer). Stick with the factory recommended weight of 5w-30, or in the alternative 0w-30. What benefit are you expecting from the thicker viscosity oil?
Perhaps if you have some sort of exceptional situation (tracking extensively) you might need a 5w-40 or 0w-40....

I will have to agree with 540.... Stick with 5w-30..

Way too thick. Stick with the weights mentioned.

If you wanna try new Mobil1 EP then try 10W-40, if you can find it. This is the kick ass oil and the best from the whole EP bunch. I'd say it would be my choice over Mobil1 0W-40. It meets ACEA A3/B3 specs and no doubt would meets BMW LL-01 specs if tested.
