If you got it on ebay, it is most likely from a post-01 car. To make it fit in your pre-01 car, you will need adapters so that the cable harnesses match. I did this in my car and am thrilled to have the in dash cd.
Here are the p/ns 61 12 6 913 957 radio adapter 61 12 6 913 955 antenna adapter 61 12 6 913 954 cd changer adapter (if equipped with CD changer)

No problem. Try Vaheh at Crevier for the parts:
Vaheh Bashikian Crevier BMW/MINI (714) 835-3171 ext. 393
The radio adapter is about $40 and the antenna cable about $20. I didn't price the changer adapter. Call around, but those prices are pretty good. Vaheh might not remember me, but Tyrone from this board steered me to him and he sure as heck knows Tyrone!
PS - you might want to make sure you need the adapters by first pulling your radio and looking at the clips. In all likelihood you do need them though.

Damn I love eBay!!! | For the same amount, you could have bought a six disc changer, and had both tape and disc capability without the hassle of swapping the head unit. Return the head unit! Get a cheap Alpine 6 disc and a Soundgate adapter. -Mark
