hello everyone, I just bought my dream car, a 2001 540i. This is my first Bimmer. I want to flush all the fluids etc. for my piece of mind. Can I use Redline synthetic products for this car? Oil, tranny fluid, gear oil, Water wetter etc. or should I just stick to what BMW recommends. I have the step-tronic automatic. Thanx for all your input  Corey |

You will love the 540 
Can't go wrong with BMW fluids. You may want to check/search the DIY forum here at bimmerfest for more info.

Congrats!
I'd stick with BMW fluids, with the exception of Mobil1 oil, unless you're pushing more power through the motor than stock. If so, redline is excellent fluid.

Congratulations! I have a '98 540 and LOVE it! You are on the right track for taking good care of it. If you have any mechanical skills, it will go a long ways in saving you $$$ when normal maintenace issues come up.

It's intresting to see what people upgrade from and their reactions after a few weeks of driving a 540.
I know I am still in shock over the drive and can tell you there's nothing like driving a BMW.
