Question about powerslot rotors, and others.

So I had posted another thread about replacing my rotors. A friend of mine can get me powerslot rotors for cheap. The rotors are listed for E39s until March, 2000. Does this matter? Can I fit them to my 2001 540iA?

TIA.

Another question:

Other than OEM rotors from the dealer, what other alternatives are there if I don't want to drop the money on a big brake kit. What about Brembo OE replacement rotors?

No. In March of 2000, BMW changed the design of the front rotors on the 540i. The rotor was moved outward by 3mm relative to the hub. Consequently, BMW also had to change the design of the caliper frame to reposition the caliper over the new rotor. If you try installing the older design rotor on a newer 540i, the rotor and the caliper frame will interfere. It simply won't work.
Boy, we found this out the hard way on BillP's car. 3 mm doesn't seem like much but the caliper frames gouged a new pair of rotors!
