Question: 2001 BMW 530i - Steering Drift with new Wheels

Hi! Im new here...
I've just purchased a set of 245-40-r18 tires (yokohama AVS DB2) with some new replica 18" wheels for my 2001 530i. Ive noticed that my steering likes to follow every imperfection of the road and also seems a little loose, even at high speeds. if this is the characteristic of low profile tires/rims, then how does the Sport Package with 18" rims (from the factory) handle it? the M5? does it behave the same or do they "tighten" the steering somehow?
Thanks!

It is called "tramlining" when your tires tend to follow ruts or imperfections in the road. There is one small section of a road that I take home from work where my stock '01 530i's tire/wheels (17") will follow the ruts in the road.

I think you'll notice more road imperfections (i.e. bumps) in the road when going from 17" to 18"--i.e. the ride comfort will suffer. You should also notice that the steering feels different (possibly heavier but not necessarily) with the larger wheels/tires.
