So some of you may have seen my last thread with the problems i had with the engine smoking. Well this weekend i decided to pull the engine out as i found no solution to the problem and figured its internal and the engine would need to be pulled regardless. I bought new plugs......switched around coils......etc and i still got smoke. Either way its out and now its time to get her cleaned up fixed! Heres some pics i took over the weekend..
I did not see your thread. I think this project is 0 for 2 because.......
The crankcase ventilation/separator system on these cars notoriously fails and results in huge plumes of smoke on startup. The fix is to buy $75 worth of parts and rebuild the ventilation/separator that sits underneath the intake assembly. This is outlined on many forums. I am wondering what you intend to do after removing the motor (lol). It is hardly rebuildable and a reman motor will exceed the book value of the car.
Bosch +4 spark plugs will fail and drop electrodes into your cylinders which can destroy your cylinders. You should stick with factory OEM part# plugs.
^^^^ well im not concerned about pulling the engine.....it wasnt a big deal! Reason being im putting a new clutch in anyways. As far as the failure you are talking about, i noticed a lot of smoke upon startup and while driving, i also noticed a loss in power as well.......another thing i noticed was oil in the intake manifold and the left rear cylinder had a very oily plug...more than normal. So with this info do you think it could still possibly be the $75 fix? If so im sure that would be much better than disecting the engine...lol.
Actually i really didnt mind pulling the engine since i now know more about the car
