DSP Settings & Speaker upgrades questions

I just recently purchased a used 1998 540iA with DSP stereo and was wondering what are the best settings for the DSP. I pretty much listen to CDs exclusively and rarely listen to radio.

I know that audio settings vary from person to person, but I do not have a clue as to where to even begin adjusting the settings. Any DSP settings that work for any of you would be a good place to start

Also, is it recommended to replace the front stock speakers with a set of JL speakers? I am not big into car audio, so I don’t really know how the stock speakers would compare to a set of JL. I was looking at these http://www.tweeter.com/product/index...entPage=family

I have an 01 540, and find the stock speakers fine. The big problem is lack of bass. Consider the "factory" upgrade to the M-Audio subwoofers. Not too difficult to perform, but a bit time consuming. I think it took me about 3 to 3.5 hours of careful work, start to finish.

Here is a link to a site with some helpful tips I used.

Drill down to the stereo section, and you will find a link to removing the original wimpy subs, and another link to installing the M-Audio subs.

Regards,
Dave
