 E60 tint

Since college I have had my cars tinted, completely legal which in my state is 35%.
On my '00 540i6 that was good enough especially with rear sun shades up.

Yesterday at the local tint shop (recommended by my dealer) specializing in high end cars I saw a 750iL getting 20% and decided to go with that. Looking at it this morning I am concerned it might look "gangsta" but will give it at least a week to grow on me - otherwise I'll step it down to 35%.

What is everyone else running?

No tint for me, doesn't get hot enough here for long enough!

It has been mid 90s here most of the week and as of this morning the humidity is close to 90%...
UGH

I love "Global Warming" in the winter, but it stinks in the summer

I am getting ready to tint my new 530 here in the next couple of weeks. Tint is a great thing. On my last vehicle, I had 15% all the way around and 35% down the front windshield.

As for it being legal, I wouldn't fret over this too much. I was pulled over several times very early in the morning for "swerving" and the officer never made mention of my tint. You are not going to be pulled over for dark tint.

The darker tint you go with, the less light you allow to shine through obviously. This means two things. 1. You will arrive to a much cooler vehicle. The difference is like night and day, especially here in south Alabama. 2. You will prolong the life of your leather and the dash. My truck's dash looked exactly like it did the day I took it home. I give most of the credit to the tint.

Of course, these are things you already know since you used to tint your vehicles. I would personally go with 20. I like the darker feel and the added protection it provides to my interior.

Good Luck!

I live in Virginia, where 50% is legal on the front and 35% everywhere else, IIRC. I'm going to run 50% all the way around, largely because I want a smoother look and want to avoid the one window darker than the other thing.

I know 50% is pretty light relative to what other folks run, but I'm also a suit-wearing guy in his 30s with kids. That, and I need to project a more conservative image with clients, etc. A darker tint just doesn't work with that. If I lived further south, though, like Florida, Texas, Arizona, etc., I would probably go darker.

Cheers,

Hoya

I got mine done by LA Tint in Sterling, VA with Formula One: Pinnacle.
