 The point of no return

Ok, I am about to place my order for a 530i after much thought and trips to the dealership. I decided to order from California due to a nearly $2,000 difference in cost between going locally and going with a California dealer - even including shipping. For me it was worth the risk of having something that expensive shipped. We'll se how it turns out.

Anyone think I'm making a mistake by not ordering from a local dealership?

Exterior Color: Black Sapphire Metallic
Interior: Black leather and Dark Poplar Wood Trim
Sport Package
Steptronic Auto Trans
Leather Seats
Logic 7
Nav
Park Distance Control
Comfort Access

Still not sure about the trim. What would be the more conservative approach? Anthracite Maple Wood Trim? To me it looks like tiger stripes Is the Poplar on the ostentacious side?

Lastly, I know many are wondering why I would need Nav in Hawaii. I guess it is over the top but might be useful for my job. Anyone know how well it works in Hawaii? Is every address on the DVD? I know it comes standard on the 7 series, but the local dealer said that they don't order 5s with Nav.

Would appreciate anyone's input. Thanks.

1 - Tax implications buying out of state? In some locations I know that can be trouble.

2 - Anthracite Trim looks really nice in person - it is hard to get a feel for it from a picture, especially flash shots blow it out and make it look super tiger, but in reality it doesn't look like that. It looks really beautiful I think - I was a little worried but I'm glad I went with it now. My pics: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=151318

I pay local sales tax but not Calif. tax when I register the vehicle.

Nice pics. With only two choices you think it would be simple to choose. One of my main concerns was that it was going to get washed out because the interior is black. I'm looking for a more modern look than the poplar, but the anthracite seems a little freaky. I'm concerned about the tiger stripes too. Does it look more like wood? What do you think?

I think you would love either trim. You will also love the Nav, with the bigger/split screen and the voice command.

I would rethink the seats - in HI I would think the active ventilated seats (like StevePow has in his photos - and I am jealous!) would make a phenomenal difference in the car. I would spend the money on those over the comfort access in a heartbeat.

Agreed - CA is a trick - a fun trick, but not a requirement and enjoyment time is short versus anything to do with making ride-time more pleasing. If you have not seen the ventilated comfort seats in person, just look at nearly any 7er on the lot - they probably have them and they are, as best I can tell, the very same seats.

On the Anth trim - the experience is more dark and blended than anything and while it looks like wood, the striping effect is very subtle and looks pretty cool. I really have grown to love the look.

Either way, your car will look great.

I really thought hard about the ventilated seats. I drove the Infiniti M35 and it had the ventilated seats. It gets really hot here, especially where I work, but that's a lot for air conned seats. The main advantage would be when I initially get in the car. Anyone know what's the exact price for an upgrade with my options? I figure just over $3,000? For me that would be a little too steep for that option.
