i need to know if i get the aux input installed in my bmw for a iPod, 1.) is it worth it and 2.) will it sound better then the FM transmitter?

I have my iPod connected to the aux input--well worth the $200 (installed) I paid. The sound quality is great. I've never heard an FM transmitter, but have to believe the aux input is better quality.

I know it IS worth it when I installed one in my E46 (330xi). Money wise, if you are daring enough, then just do it yourself and save the cash for another mod. My dealer quoted me ~$290 for the complete install, but I let them know all the labor was done, so they have to give me a price in person to see how much *I* did.
2.) I've yet to have mine activated by the dealership, but a direct tap into the audio system will always be better than FM transmission.

yea right if i tried to do it my self i'll end up ripping the whole car apart. i'll let the dealer worry about installing it for me
